A Green Lizard

Alana brought home a paper from kindergarten with various activities to complete through the month of October. The first one we chose was "If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?" Now, given past conversations about horses, or her frequent, "Mommy, I wish I had wings." Or "Mommy? I really wish I could fly," I thought for SURE I had a general idea what sort of animal she'd be choosing. But instead she surpised me, "I would want to be a lizard," she said. I told her that was not at all what I was expecting and asked her why. "I would want to be a green lizard because if a lizard eats strawberries and poops in the garden, then strawberries will grow." Oh. Of course!........And we all like strawberries.

We did one other activity today - "Draw a picture of yourself in a favorite costume." She drew herself as a cowgirl (complete w/lasso, pocket, and top fringed chaps. She wrote an "H" on the horse so people would know it was a horse, and a "C" on her so people would know she was a cowgirl (she asked first whether it started with a "k" or "c"). When she was finished, she decided she wanted to dress up as a cowgirl now (second-hand chaps/vest/boots from Grandma L. - LOVE the vest/chaps!). So we took a picture of her w/the drawing. :) You can click on the picture to see it larger if you want to look at her drawing. It's funny, as I was setting her up to take the picture, I could've sworn she was speaking with a drawl.
